Shami Gourment - Business Bay

Monday, February 26, 2018 0 Comments A+ a-

Having a good meal while having a busy day can really make a good difference in your mood. I decide to visit Shami Gourment which is very close to my work place. They serve arabiv, middle eastern cuisines and have good meal plans.

The place is quite big and comfortable seating area indoor as well as outdoor. They have open kitchen which is interesting to watch. They have good options of salad, sandwiches, pizza, manakeesh and juices. They have self sevice concept which I have mostly seen in food court, it is good for office workers as they can place order and go and they will be notified when done.

What We Tried There:
  • Individual Mixed Grill
  • Avocado Juice
  • Half Rotisserie Chicken
We had visited this place for lunch, we opted for combo meals. First item we chose was the Individual Mixed Grill. It includes three different types of kebab which is shush tawouk, mutton seekh kebab, lamb cubes; which is served with grilled vegetables, French fires and salad with khaboos and soft drink. It might sound to much but it's not. I didn't like any of kabab as it tasted very dry and felt it was 2 - 3 days old.
Individual Mixed Grill

Our second meal was Half Rostisserie Chicken, I just opted because of the picture. When it arrived it was just the same. It had half chicken, French fires, salad, khaboos and soft drink. But again I had to be disappointed, it was neither seasoned nor cooked up to mark. The upper layer of chicken just fell apart which felt bad. Totally disappointed.
Half Rostisserie Chicken

Lastly we ordered Avocado Juice, it was thick and had nice consistency. It had good taste and proper amount of sweetness.
Avocado Juice

Overall I didn't have a great experience not even average. Even the prices are higher compared with other restaurants in the area. Or may be I didn't have good luck to have good food. I might try out something else some other time just to check the food quality.

Real Momos - Indo-Chinese Hidden Gem

Friday, February 23, 2018 0 Comments A+ a-

Al Karama is a place in Dubai which have so many hidden food places which not only surprises you the food what they offer but the prices are super affordable. From past few days I want to have momos but didn't know where I would get. Passing by I spotted this restaurant, Real Momos; even though it was small and had no idea what I will get I decided to try it out.

The place is tucked inside of interior roads of Karama. The place is very tiny and have very few seating space. Their menu comprises of mix of Indian and Chinese dishes.

What We Tried There:
  • Chicken Momos Mix Tandoori Platter
  • Chicken Kothey Momos
  • Honey Chicken
  • Dilli Wali Chowmein
  • Punjabi Sweet Lassi
We started with Chicken Momo's Mix Tandoori Platter, it had three different Momo's which is Afghani Chicken Momo's, Haryali Chicken Momo's and Achari Tandoori Chicken Momo's. There are 10 pieces of momo's, if you want you can choose what type of momo's you want in platter. It was served served with schezwan sauce, mint chutney and chilies chutney.
I love the way they have given Indian touch to the momo's. I loved especially Achari Tandoori Momo with schezwan sauce just for the spice in it. Definitely give it a try, I #HighlyRecommend you to try it.
Chicken Momo's Mix Tandoori Platter
I separately ordered Chicken Kothey Momo's because it was very spicy as told by the staff. As you know I love spicy food, I had to get it separately and not in platter. They are really spicy because they tossed in schezwan sauce. It is #MustTry if you love spicy food, you can include this in platter also.
Chicken Kothey Momo's
Next we tried their Honey Chicken, it is very similar to crispy chicken. Chicken is soft inside and crispy only difference is honey. You get flavor of sweet and little spice. The quantity served is great and worth every penny. It is totally street style food in India, I'm #LovingIt.
Honey Chicken
Lastly you cant leave without having Dilli Wali Chowmein. It is Indian version of Chowmein Noodles with Indian mix of spice and sauce. It is best seller in India and fulfilling to college going student (I remembered my college days). You definitely #GottaTry this.
Dilli Wali Chowmein
For drinks our #Favorite Punjabi Sweet Lassi, it had good consistency and flavor.

My experience was lovely. From food to service everything was good. Everything is served piping hot and fresh. They also do home delivery and Take away's. Very affordable and friendly atmosphere.
I'm definitely going back to try some new Momo's and other dishes.

Last weekend I was lucky to have the amazing food trip to Italy. Andiamo! Is one of the restaurant that serves authentic and unique Italian cuisine. All the ingredients are being exported from Italy everyday. All thanks to Chef Massimo who prepared everything all by himself and briefed us about every dish.

The restaurant is far away from hustle of city, have peaceful atmosphere and very close to Al Raha Beach, can be easily located. Restaurant have very rustic and spacious. They have maple of seating area from bar stools to private cabins they have everything also outdoor seating.

What We Tried There:
  • Baked Eggplant
  • Cannelloni
  • Wild Mushroom & Truffle Risotto
  • Calabrese Pizza
  • Bufalina & Burrata Pizza
  • All Day Energizer
  • Chocolate Shake
  • Iced Tea
  • Red Avocado Smoothie
  • Tiramisu
  • Double Pannacotta
  • Cheescake
We started with All Day Energizer, it is mix of many fruits and had perfect consistency. You could taste each flavour of the fruit. It is also their best selling drink.
All Day Energizer
Next we drink was suggested by the staff which is Iced Tea. It had orange as it's dominant flavor. Perfect drink for summers in UAE.
Iced Tea
The first dish that arrived was Cannelloni, it is home made pasta layers with lots vegetables and cheese. The sauces (I don't know the exact name of that sauce) and the softness of pasta were bomb. Pasta was not overly cooked and perfect. They also prepare it with beef, if anyone wants to have pasta you #MustTry Cannelloni.
Lasagna
Next was something that I never tried before, it is Wild Mushroom & Truffle Risotto. I always wanted to try risotto but for some reason I couldn't make my mind to have it. But I was happy that our menu consisted of Risotto. In a very traditional Italian way Rice is roasted and slowly cooked. It had four different types of mushroom, truffle and black olives. I #HighlyRecommend you to try this unique dish with truffle and mushrooms.
Wild Mushroom & Truffle Risotto
It's impossible to leave the Italian Restaurant without having Pizza. First pizza was Calabrese which had spicy beef salami, mozzarella, red bell peppers. It had very few ingredients but the taste was to die for. This was #MyFavorite out of all the dishes we tried.
Calabrese Pizza
Our Second Pizza was Bufalina & Burrata, these pizza is full of cheese. The main ingredients are Buffalo mozzarella and Burrata Cheese. It is very cheesy and delicious.
Bufalina & Burrata Pizza
Final dish was Baked Eggplant, this dish is again something that I didn't expect to be so good. It is mix of pumpkin puree and caramelized shallot. Served with halloumi fondue and quinoa. Everything in one spoon and different flavours, simply love it.
Baked Eggplant
By the end of this our drinks were over with suggestions given by staff we ordered two more drinks again. The simple Chocolate Shake is never to old and other was Red Avocado Smoothie which had perfect sweetness and good consistency.
Chocolate Shake

Red Avocado Smoothie

Lastly our Dessert it was heavenly. We had Tiramisu, Double Pannacotta and Cheesecake. Among all I loved their Tiramisu, it was the best till now what I have tried.

Overall Great place to try authentic Italian cuisine and try some unique dishes and flavor.

Eric's Restaurant - Al Karama

Friday, February 16, 2018 1 Comments A+ a-

Staying far from your home town and not missing it, is impossible. That's the reason I am always on a hunt for delicious Goan food. So this week I went to Eris's Restaurant. What made me go there was the famous Mario's painting wall paint design, it defines Goa.
Eric's Restaurant is situated in bit of interior of Al Karama but was very easy with help of Google maps. Being in interior side there is advantage of getting parking every close to restaurant, I was lucky to find it right in front of the restaurant. We went there early for dinner because it was empty. It had the beautiful art which is replica of Mario's paintings and frames of Goa. The restaurant itself reminds the olden houses which was designed by Portugal people. The place is very simple no extra effort is done to decorate, they have kept everything basic, rustic with ancient feel to it.

What We Tried There:
  • Fantastic Lolly Pop
  • Peppery Prawns
  • Bhatti Murgh
  • Pan Fried Kingfish
  • Chicken Xacuti
  • Indian Pav
  • Mango lassi
  • Strawberry Milkshake
  • Chocolate Lava Cake
The huge menu got us confused but the staff is very friendly and good in recommending dishes according to your taste. We ordered lot of starters for only two of us.

Starting with their best selling and #MustHave Fantastic Lolly Pop. This was the first thing our server suggested us instantly. They have converted the simple chicken Lilly pop dish into Indo-Chinese. The sauce had so many different flavors and it is so amazing. You can change the spice level of it if you don't like too much of spice. I am totally going back to just have this again #HighlyRecommend.
Fantastic Lolly Pop
It won't be justified if I don't try out the seafood in Goan Restaurant. Peppery Prawns was served next to us. This is spicy because of the amount of pepper in it. But again you can ask them to change according to your like. The Prawns were big and perfectly seasoned. I love the quantity which they served and also the amount of prawns in it. If you are a crazy fan of seafood (Just Like ME!) then this a #MustTry.
Peppery Prawns
We wanted to try something from their Grilled In Tandoor section, we were suggested to try out Bhatti Da Murgh. This dish is not mention in the menu, I believe it could be new addition in their menu. It had great aroma and was nice tender and grilling didn't make it dry. It is a good option to try in tandoor.
Bhatti Da Murgh
They have a page of all Goan Dishes which includes Seafood, Chicken, Beef and Mutton. Without thinking too much I ordered Pan Fried Kingfish. Kingfish is most easiest fish to eat that's the reason I love it the most. The fish was fried with goan spices and not overly done. The taste was delicious and portion size was also good, you #MustHave this.
Pan Fried Kingfish
For Main Course we ordered the Chicken Xacuti with Indian Bread (Pav). In Goa especially most of the time we have Pav with Gravy dishes it compliments well together. This is one of the famous dish in Goa which you will find every restaurant in Goa. It had the home made touch to it with great mix of spices.
Chicken Xacuti and Pav
For drinks we had Mango Lassi and Strawberry Milkshake.
Mango Lassi and Strawberry Milkshake
For Dessert they had the Chocolate Lava Cake as the special which is made on that day only. The cake was hot and gooey, having it with ice cream just made it better.
Chocolate Lava Cake
Overall it is a great place to hangout with friends and family. They have huge menu but I mainly tried their Goan items. Don't forget to ask the special dish of the day, I believe they have something in each section different everyday.

Sangam Restaurants & Sweets

Wednesday, February 07, 2018 0 Comments A+ a-

To be honest, I'm not a fan of a vegetarian food. When I was in college I use to tease my friends and trouble them asking how can you just survive by just eating vegetables and not even taste other stuff. I don't hate veggie's but I can't eat more then two meals of vegetarian in a day. I hope you have know till now that it is all about vegetarian restaurant, it is Sangam Restaurant and Sweets.

I was in mood to have South Indian food so we ended up in Sangam Restaurant, for a minute I decided to go in other restaurant because they had non-veg but some how I managed to enter Sangam.

Sangam is very open, bright and spacious restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and shown our tables because we were only two. After having a quick look I realized the prices are  cheap as compared to other vegetarian restaurant who serves the same things. The Manager was very humble and polite and approached each table and asked for feedback's which is very rare to see.

What We Tried There:
  • Mini Tiffin
  • Poori Sabji
I didn't know what to choose because it is rare that we visit completely vegeterian restaurant. So I told the Manager that I wanna have taste of everything but not burn the whole in a pocket. So he asked me to try Mini Tiffin. I was again in confusion because it had Masala Dosa (Which never in my life till now I couldn't finish it).
Mini Tiffin
It had Vada, Masala Dosa, Idli, Upma (there are other options too for this item), Sweet was Sheera #MyFavorite along with Sambar, coconut chutney, chili chutney and I guess peanut chutney (orange color). Everything was in a miniature size and totally worth every penny. So many different flavors and different type of food in one plate. Lastly they served Coffee which is also included in Mini Tiffin.
Mini Coffee
We also ordered the famous Poori Sabji, you will find this everywhere in India. Poori was Fluffy and soft. They were served with mashed potato sabji and coconut chutney. I love the sabji, I love to mix it with ketchup to give it extra boost of flavours. It was delicious and #MustHave.
Poori Sabji
Definitely worth visiting this place again for very affordable vegetarian food.

Wrapchic - Fusion Of Indian and Mexican

Sunday, February 04, 2018 0 Comments A+ a-

Wrapchic is a fusion of two cuisines, Indian and Mexican brought to Dubai all the way from Mexico. They have combined the favorites of both the countries together, such as Mexican favorites are Burritos, Bowl of Salad or Rice, Wrap, Quesadilla and Indian favorites comprises of Chicken Muglai, Chicken Rajasthani, Mutton Madrasi and many more.

Their concept is interesting which allows you to create your own dish by selecting your style with your favorite fillings and topping. Mexican Style and Indian filling, What do you think?
They have opened their new outlet in JLT and I was lucky to be invited by them. They have very interesting location and great service by the staff.

What We Tried There:
  • Chicken Rajasthani Wraplette
  • Mutton Madrasi Bowl
  • Chicken Punjabi Quesadilla
  • Hyderabadi Biryani Bowl
  • Chicken Mughlai Wraposa
  • Chole Masala Wrapchos
  • Mango Lassi
  • Coconut Lassi
  • Jarritos
We started with Wraplette which is a tortilla and eggs, onions, peppers, jalapenos, tomatoes and with Indian filling of Chicken Rajasthani. It had a hot and sour flavors which blended well together. I #HighlyRecommend you to try this combination as it will be enough for a hungry person.
Chicken Rajasthani Wraplette
Next we chose the Bowl of Salad with Mutton Madarasi and red beans, you can also choose Rice as a option but to balance out we opted for salad as it will still feel light. I love the quantity of salad which was served, Mutton was nice soft and nicely seasoned and had great texture. At beginning I had bad feeling of choosing it but my doubts were cleared with the first bite of it, totally worth it.
Mutton Madrasi Bowl
Can you Imagine Quesadilla with Indian filling? It had all the regular ingredients in it onion, cheese, peppers, tomato and main filling was Chicken Punjabi. When it was hot you could enjoy the amazing flavors of everything but once it got cold it became rubbery and was dry. So make sure to have it as soon as it is served.
Chicken Punjabi Quesadilla
Well they have introduced Hyderabadi Biryani Bowl which is new addition in the menu. Rather then their regular rice which they serve is replaced by the Biryani rice which is also served with red beans, Chicken and not to forget to include salad. It was a great bowl for #BiryaniLover with healthy version.
Hyderabadi Biryani bowl
Wraposa is a toasted sandwich in which we added Chicken Mughlai as a filling. This is kind of more of a snack which I would prefer to have it with any hot beverage. But unfortunately they don't serve anything hot beverages.
Chicken Mughlai Wraposa
Lastly we tried their Wrapchos which is Nachos with any Indian filling, we chose Chole Masala. I loved their exactly seasoned nachos with cheese and sour cream. If you want to spice it up more then top it up with Jalapenos like I did.
Chole Masala Wrapchos
For drinks we had their #MustHave Jarritos in Mandarin flavor it is the local drink of Mexico. And also Mango lassi and Coconut Lassi which is famous Indian drinks.

Coconut Lassi and Mango Lassi
I have also visited their first outlet in Burjuman Mall, to know what all I tried there which is completely different then this click HERE.
